Become A Bail Bond Agent

Position Title: Field Agent/Producer (Bail Bond Agent)             Immediate Supervisor: Manager


Compensation:        Commission Based on Premiums Collected (Usually)




The Agent/Producer position encompasses a wide range of activities with involvement in all phases of the court system. The Agent/Producer must have no criminal history and be competent and proficient with all facets of the duties, skills and responsibilities required to underwrite and execute (post) bail bonds. An Agent/Producer must possess a positive, outgoing, confident, motivated personality. The Agent/Producer must wear casual business attire at all times when meeting with clients or potential clients and while visiting courts or jails. The Agent/Producer puts the agency's needs first and works closely with the underwriters, manager, and agency owner on problem solving and daily work flow. This person works directly with the manager to resolve their respective problems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




Meet potential clients, both in county of residence as well as outlying counties, to fill out applications, accept payment, execute paperwork to perfect liens on collateral, and execute bail bonds


Account for and produce, at any time request by management, all powers of attorney (bonds) that have been assigned including keeping accurate and detailed records of who bonds are executed for, when, where, and for the amount(s) along with detailed records of collateral taken


Must complete all company forms in a thorough, accurate, complete, legible manner according to company rules, regulations, policies and procedures as promulgated from time to time


Must record and perfect all liens on collateral within 24 hours of posting bond, excluding days that the appropriate government office for recording liens is closed. Receipt must be turned in with other paperwork


Carry a cell phone, and if requested, a pager, and respond, in a timely manner pursuant to company guidelines, to calls and pages when “on call”


As part of the agent’s marketing efforts, underwrite bail bonds according to company underwriting guidelines, in person and by telephone, and set appointments to execute bonds


Turn in all bail bond related paperwork to the main office within 72 hours of posting (If working from a detached location” must be mailed to office postmarked within 72 hours of Posting)




Deposit all company money into assigned company bank account according to company procedures




Assist agency personnel with implementation and maintenance of various marketing activities including development and implementation of a personal effective marketing program


Keep records of daily marketing activities at various courts and jails in the surrounding counties


Attend and participate in various promotional and public relation activities as requested


Go to courts and jails on a consistent schedule to identify and prospect potential clients




Because our Agents provide a “last line of defense” when executing bonds, they cease execution of bond and call the office immediately to obtain further instructions, if there is any deviation from underwriting information provided by the office underwriter


Call the office immediately, and obtain further instructions, if any information is obtained by Agent, while posting bond, of a potential increase in risk


Help locate, but not apprehend, clients who fail to return for scheduled court appearances





Maintain a current Department of Insurance Property/Casualty Limited Lines for Fidelity Surety Insurance, or Bail Bond Agent/Producer Resident License


Must obtain and maintain a notary commission valid in the state of posting (Michigan Notary Link)


Maintain a current driver’s license for state where appointed to post bail bonds


Must maintain reliable private, personal transportation available at all times to travel to jails and courts as required by the company


Maintain open flexible schedule during “on call” times to allow for posting of bail bonds as needed by the company with a maximum time of one hour to be able to leave for assignment.


Give company an advance notice of any time off requirements except in circumstances of dire emergency.


Perform other such duties as may be assigned to assist in the marketing, execution, or loss mitigation of bail bonds

An Agent/Producer must possess the ability to accurately access the reliability of information provided by clients as well as to have high tolerance for frustration caused by possible delays in processing by the judicial, legal, corrections, and law enforcement agencies within the operating area of the Agent/Producer and to be able to maintain an amicable, pleasant attitude. High School Diploma with some college courses.  Work experience equivalent may be acceptable.


Experience with a police department, court, security company, social work, insurance, outside sales or similar experience helpful, but not necessary.


Educational requirements may vary based upon the individual’s professional and work experience




Prior to commencement of activities which require a license candidate must have successfully passed the state licensing examination for any required Insurance/Bail License required by the agent’s state of residence


Successfully complete Budget Bail Bond Agency, LLC’s office training consisting of reading and classroom training.


Must obtain a Notary Commission in the agent’s state of residence
